IHAG Privatbank throughout the ages

IHAG Privatbank was founded 75 years ago as an independent Swiss bank and has ever since been owned by a family with a long tradition of entrepreneurship and a strong commitment to the company. We are proud of our enduring history. Tradition, independence and entrepreneurial spirit are values that have characterised us in the past, distinguish us today and will become even more important in the future.


Milestones in the history of IHAG Privatbank

1940: Construction of the Bleicherhof by architect Otto Rudolf Salvisberg – the headquarters of IHAG Privatbank since 1949.
1949: Founded as Industrie- und Handelsbank AG by Emil Georg Bührle (balance sheet: CHF 10.8 million).
1984: New logo in keeping with the spirit of the times (balance sheet: CHF 357.3 million).
1995: The company is now called IHAG Handelsbank Zürich and specialises in wealth management and stock exchange trading (balance sheet: CHF 796.7 million).
1999: IHAG Handelsbank Zürich becomes Privatbank IHAG Zürich AG – symbolising the shift of the main business to private banking (balance sheet: CHF 1.269 billion).
2008: New logo and colourful imagery as a symbol of the move into the future (balance sheet: CHF 1.531 billion).
2024: 75th anniversary of IHAG Privatbank, which is established as an agile financial boutique for entrepreneurs, families and private individuals (Balance sheet as at 30 June 2023: CHF 1.283 billion).
